PD: Gilbert Police officer hit by car, suspect arrested
GILBERT, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Gilbert Police say one of their officers was hit by a vehicle attempting to be stopped Friday night.
Police say a mountain bike officer team was attempting to stop a reckless driver in the area of Stonebridge and Burk when the driver struck one of the officers and fled the scene.
The officer was taken to the hospital and released later that night with no serious injuries.
Police arrested the driver Michael James, 21, on charges of aggravated assault to a Police Officer, fail to stop after an injury collision and endangerment-vehicular. The passenger Hailee Meier, 20, was cited for underage drinking and released.
Investigators suspect impariment on the driver.
