SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Scottsdale Police say a rideshare driver died following a crash caused by a suspected drunk driver.
Officers responded to a three-vehicle collision on Hayden Road and the Loop 101 underpass just before 2 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators say a vehicle traveling north on Hayden left the roadway, drove up the sidewalk, and over the landscaping, colliding with a rideshare vehicle that was stopped on the freeway ramp. The crash pushed the second vehicle into a third vehicle that was also stopped.
Police say the driver of the rideshare vehicle died on the scene, while the two passengers were not injured. The offender was taken to a hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries and the occupants in the third car received minor injuries.
Detectives do believe impairment to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing.
