PHOENIX (FOX 10) - The Phoenix Police Department says a suspect has died following an officer-involved shooting.
Police say they responded to a domestic violence call around 7 p.m. Saturday near 36th Street and McDowell Road. When officers arrived, they found a woman who said she got into a fight with her boyfriend.
During the investigation, officers got a call about a crash near 40th Street and Oak. Officers found one of the cars involved was abandoned.
Police came upon a residence near 42nd Street and Wilshire to find Eric Hagstrom, 35, laying down in the driveway with a gun in his hand. As officers approached him, he pointed his gun at an officer and the officer fired his weapon. He was shot in the driveway.
Hagstrom was taken to the hospital where he later died. No officers were hurt.
The officer who fired their weapon is a 30-year-old male who has been with the department for a year and a half.
