Police arrest teen after double-shooting in Peoria

Police have arrested a teen in connection to a double-shooting at a park on Monday.
Peoria police have arrested a 17-year-old teen and charged him with aggravated assault. Just before 4 p.m., officers responded to Braewood Park at 8742 W. Mercer Lane and found a 14 and 16-year-old teen suffering from gunshot wounds.
The 16-year-old teen had multiple gunshot wounds and he was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 14-year-old teen suffered non-life threatening injuries.
According to police, the victims were on a basketball court when the suspect approached them and displayed a gun. A struggle ensued between the three teens and the suspect shot both teen victims.
With the assistance of SWAT, police located the suspect and took him into custody. He has been booked into the Durango Juvenile Detention Center.
Police believe this is an isolated incident and there are no outstanding suspects.
