PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A Phoenix man has been arrested after police say he stabbed his wife of 40 years several times.
According to court documents, 59-year-old Ricardo Poblete said he would kill his wife and himself because he and his wife "made a vow 40 years ago in church to be faithful to each other" and "she was not honoring her side of the promise."
After stabbing his wife seven to nine times in the chest and arm, Poblete thought his wife was dead and stabbed himself. Poblete's wife survived the stabbing and ran outside their home as police arrived at the scene.
Poblete's wife told police her husband's cheating accusations against her were false and that he grabbed a knife and "just went nuts."
Poblete was taken into custody by police and his wife was taken to the hospital.
Poblete faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
