Phoenix police: 3 dead, 2 critically injured in rollover crash

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Three people are dead and two others are in extremely critical condition following a rollover crash near a Phoenix freeway.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the rollover crash happened at around 1 a.m. on Bell Road off of Interstate 17 when a car hit a raised median in the roadway and crashed into a light pole.

Police say the driver of the car, 18-year-old Bailey Jones Weldon, was killed in the crash. Twenty-seven-year-old Joshua Kroeger and 19-year-old Danielle Bowden, who were passengers in the car, were also killed.

Two other passengers, a 19-year-old man and 18-year-old woman, are hospitalized in extremely critical condition.

Bell Road has reopened in both directions east of I-17.
