Phoenix Police debut new ice cream truck

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Phoenix Police are cruising through town in a new ride, an ice cream truck.

Officers will soon be passing out treats through the streets of Phoenix, to not only patrol, but to engage with their Phoenix neighbors.

"It is a little but out of the box, but it's innovative," said Tim Thomas, President of the Phoenix Police Foundation.

"The van will support community outreach, neighborhood connectivity efforts, and everything that is good about ice cream is what brings folks together," said Chief Jeri Williams with Phoenix Police

Chevrolet through the Phoenix Police foundation debuted the new ride at Lindo Park Saturday. The truck cost about $55,000 and was paid for through private funding.
