Phoenix police identify teen fatally shot; Arrest a suspect
PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have identified a teenage boy who was fatally shot during a drug-related shooting in Phoenix and also arrested a suspect.
Phoenix police say 14-year-old Jovanny Pelayo was pronounced dead at the scene of Sunday afternoon's shooting.
They say a 15-year-old accomplice also was shot and is recovering at a hospital.
Police say Pelayo was armed with a stolen handgun when he and the other teen met up with 18-year-old Robert Wells to make a drug deal.
They say Pelayo then attempted to rob Wells of drugs, money and property and he reportedly shot both teens before fleeing the scene.
Police say Wells has been booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and other charges.
It was unclear Monday if Wells has an attorney yet.
