Phoenix Police issues warning on burglaries targeting elderly homeowners

- Phoenix Police officials say they are investigating multiple residential burglaries that appear to target elderly homeowners in different parts of the city.

In a statement issued Tuesday by Sgt. Armando M. Carbajal, officials say the suspect or suspects posed as employees of utility companies, and told the homeowners they are there to perform an inspection or service on the property. The suspect then lures the homeowner to the backyard or sideyard, while a suspect suspect burglarizes the residence. Victims have also reported the suspects' use of two-way radios during the crimes.

Police say a car, described as a white or silver newer model SUV that is possibly a Hyundai Santa Fe, has been seen in the area during multiple burglary incidents. Police also described one of the suspects as a white man with a thin build, about 30 to 40 years old, with short brown hair, white and blue striped shirt, bad acne and bad teeth.
