Phoenix Police Foundation collecting donations for officer seriously hurt in Thursday crash

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- Phoenix Police officials say the Phoenix Police Foundation is collecting donations on behalf of a police officer who was seriously hurt following a crash Thursday.

According to a statement issued Friday by Sgt. Armando M. Carbajal, the officer injured has been identified as Sean George, and on Friday, Officer George remains hospitalized in stable condition.

According to police officials, Officer George was leaving the driveway of the Black Mountain Precinct, on the 30000 block of N. Cave creek Road, and as he was heading south on Cave Creek Road, he collided with another car that was heading north.

Officer George, who Phoenix Police officials said Thursday is a 53-year-old man who has served the department for 26 years, was in an unmarked Chevrolet Malibu and conducting administrative tasks in according with his duties.

An investigation is underway.
