Phoenix School District employees get salon day

You won't find any beauty school dropouts here, in fact today, employees of the Phoenix School District are excited to grace their classrooms with a brand new look!

"I feel very blessed that this opportunity is afforded to everybody in the Phoenix elementary school district," Antonia Morris said.

For the third year in a row, free haircuts, manicures, and massages are available to any employee of the Phoenix School District.

Salon owner Perry Monge says their mission is simple.

"The goal is to make everyone feel excited to go back to school," Monge said. "We have teachers custodial, the gardeners, we have everybody we want to be inclusive, have everybody start off this year with a bang."

Stylists agree that it's a small gesture to give thanks for a big job -- teaching the youth of the community.

"These are teachers, they don't get paid during the summer, they're really the ones who take care of our kids while they're at school," Mariluz Rivera said. "So what better way to give back them than treating them this way? I think this is one of the best things that we can do."

Even though the incentive is receiving a free treatment, it's not just fabulous styles that keep the school staff coming back year after year.

"It's nice to know the crew that works for the salon is like a family and they make all of us feel like a family," Morris said. "When we come back, they're like, 'Hey, good to see you again!'"
