Phoenix volunteers gather to feed children around the world

An assembly line of sorts formed at the Phoenix Convention Center in Downtown Phoenix over the weekend, as hundreds of volunteers spent their time packing two million meal bags that will be sent around the world.

"Right now, over a thousand people are joining 'Feed My Starving Children' to pack these nutritious meals that will be sent to kids all over the world," said Andy Carr with Feed My Starving Children.

It was a party-like atmosphere at the Convention Center, and when all is said and done, the volunteers would have packed two million food bags.

"That's going to be enough for over 5,500 kids a meal, a day, for an entire year," said Carr.

The bags contain vitamins, rice, vegetables and soy.

"We raised the money, volunteers pack the meals, and we give the food away to save lives," said Carr.

"There's need all over the world," said volunteer Connie Goers. "We gotta feel some bellies."

Volunteers had a great time helping out, knowing their small donation of time will make a big impact on those in need of these food bags.
