Phoenix voters to decide on key issues during Election Day

The voting polls open at 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning and residents have important issues to decide on, including the mayor and Proposition 104.

Democrat incumbent Mayor Greg Stanton is seeking a second term against Republican Anna Brennan and Independent Matt Jette.

In addition to the mayor, there are also city council member votes in districts one, three, five and seven.

There are four ballot measures, most notably, Proposition 104, which is a $31 billion transportation plan that includes expanding the city's light rail line.

While many say the expansion is needed as the city grows, others feel that it comes at a big expense to tax payers, with little pay off since a small number of people actually use the light rail.

The voting polls are open until 7 p.m., Tuesday night.
