Pickup truck crashes into pool, driver taken into custody

A pickup truck ended up in a Phoenix apartment complex's swimming pool near 19th Avenue and Northern. Witnesses told FOX 10 the driver got out of the truck and ran away from the scene, but it didn't take long for police to catch up to him.

How did all of this happen?

"He floored it. You can tell he floored his truck," said Cheri Horton, a resident at the complex. "He just kept going. He wasn't stopping. He didn't even hesitate to stop.. just kept going. I went, oh my God! He just drove his truck into the pool! And that's what he did. He literally drove his truck into the pool."

For Horton, it was an interesting and not your average Monday night. It was her birthday and she was waiting for her daughter when the crash happened.

The driver was taken into custody. His name has not been released.
