Pinterest comes to life at conference in Scottsdale

FOX 10's Anita Roman has more on what to expect and what this means for local businesses. Now in its fourth year, the Pinner's conference and Expo is a place where the creative-type can create, inspire and connect.

It's the first time the conference is being held in the Valley.

"We started in Salt Lake," Roxanne Bennett said. "This is our first time in Arizona. It's really an opportunity for you to have this experience.

Thousands of Pinterest fans are expected to attend the Pinner's Conference and Expo in north Scottsdale.

"There's over 100 classes over the two days, plus 200 amazing shops," Bennett said. "You can buy your own supplies to go home. Just come shop, experience all the newest trends on Pinterest from health and fitness to DIY."

From scraping the easy way with Becky Higgins, owner of Project Life, to chalk writing and water painting, influencers will be on hand for hands-on demonstrations.

"This is a smaller version of Project Life," she said. "You can see here the whole idea is that every one of these photos and pre-designed cards are literally slipped into pockets."

It's a win-win for those who want to learn and those who want to grow their business.

"We're doing this as a test run," said Eileen Salmon of Rod Works. "We're hoping we can get some people that have not heard of us into our store."

Doors are open until 9 p.m. tonight and they reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Tickets to get in are $7 and can be purchased at the door or online. many of the classes do cost extra.
