PLUG PULLED: Long-standing holiday light display coming to an end in Arcadia

- One long standing holiday tradition in the Valley appears to be coming to an end. After several decades, an Arcadia homeowner is pulling the plug on an extravagant light display.

"They come here for free, and have a great time, but this year, not going to happen," said Lee Sepanek.

The issue isn't the lights, but the traffic, and if that is not resolved, a long-standing holiday tradition in the Valley could head into the history books.

Sepanek traces his love for decorating back to the days when he was a 10-year-old boy in New England. His Christmas House in Arcadia brings in thousands to look at the decorations, every year.

"No complaints in 30 years," said Sepanek.

That is, until this year, when a group went to the City, and the City said he has to do something to control traffic, and he can't sell any items. Now, Sepanek is pulling the plug on the lights, and that is a big disappointment to the Harris family.

"I think they should keep it on, because it brings happy cheers to everybody." said Danny Harris.

"I want it to be the same," said Jackson Harris.

"My whole neighborhood is supportive," said Sepanek.

A canvassing of the streets of Sepanek's Arcadia neighborhood, however, took on a different tone. Several residents, who didn't want to be on camera, all complained about the traffic, cars blocking driveways, trash in their yards, and the inability to host their own holiday parties.

"It's a little bit of a headache, but I wouldn't give up the Christmas House for it, I'll deal with the headache. It's Christmas." said Dan Harris.

"I even bought a whole bunch of new stuff, I was gonna add stuff to my windows. I was going to increase my displays, my window displays, now they're in storage," said Sepanek, who has given the lights to his neighbors, so other houses will have lights.
