Police: Body found inside valley recycling center

PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix police are trying to identify a woman whose body was found at a trash facility and determine how she died.

Officer James Holmes says workers who sort incoming items for recycling spotted the woman's intact and clothed body on a conveyor belt Wednesday morning.

According to Holmes, there's no indication of trauma on the body and that it appears whatever happened to the woman, identified as 24-year-old Christy Leann Davey, happened somewhere other than the trash facility.

Holmes says police are trying to determine where in Phoenix Davey's body may have been picked up during collection of recycling materials.

Phoenix provides residents with separate containers for recycling materials and other trash.

The facility is located near South 27th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. It's closed while police investigate.

The case is now being treated as a homicide.
