Police identify fugitive killed in officer-involved shooting

- Glendale Police Department have released the name of the wanted fugitive who was killed in Thursday night's officer-involved shooting.

Brandon Pequeno, 25, was wanted for kidnapping, domestic violence, aggravated assault and felony warrants.

Two people were hit by gunfire near 51st Avenue and Northern.

Police say no officers were injured, but we're told at least half a dozen local and federal agencies were involved such as US. Marshals service, Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Mesa Police Department, Chandler Police Department, and Tempe Police Department.

The shooting happened after officers attempted to arrest an armed and dangerous suspect who was in a vehicle with three other people. Pequeno was driving a stolen vehicle and started ramming into other vehicles in an attempt to flee the scene, leading officers to open fire, injuring both Pequeno and a 17-year-old in the car.

"They were attempting to apprehend this individual, who is considered both armed and dangerous," said Officer Tiffany Smith. "He was wanted for multiple felony counts. As they were trying to apprehend him safely, the shooting ensued."

Pequeno and the juvenile were treated on site for their wounds, and then were transported to a local valley hospital. There, Pequeno succumbed to his wounds and died.

The female juvenile remains in critical condition at this time.

A third person, a 25-year-old male, is being questioned about the situation.

Witnesses at the scene told FOX 10 they heard 30 gunshots.

The relationship between the three individuals is unknown this time.

The investigation is still on-going.
