Police identify suspect accused of running over veteran

It's been five days since Steven Richardson was hit by a car in a Fry's parking lot. He spotted a man assaulting a woman, so he stepped in to help and was run over in the process.
The suspect in the case, 18-year-old Cody Gibson is still on the loose, and now Richardson has a message for Gibson.
Many call Richardson a hero, but it's a title he isn't comfortable with.
"Just some guy who stopped someone from doing something very bad, that's all," said Steven Richardson.
Steven Richardson says he was just a citizen when he saw a man dragging a woman by her hair through a Chandler store parking lot, and he stepped in to help her.
"That's what we need are more people who are willing to step up and take care of people that are doing wrong, if everybody is afraid to do the right thing all the time, who is going to save us," he said.
Chandler Police say Gibson was dragging the woman and ran over Richardson as he fled the scene. That 18-year-old Gibson is on the loose is troubling to the family.
"Find the guy for me, he deserves to go away, he deserves to be put away for a long time," said Richardson.
Richardson has three young sons who he tries to set an example for, after two tours in Iraq, he does what he can to keep his community safe now that he's home.
"It's on citizens to try and help out, seeing something like that I can't allow that in my neighborhood, I live a mile from there, I don't want that around my family," he said.
Richardson stepped in to help a stranger, the community is stepping up to help his family. People are donating to a GoFundMe page for him. And there are outpouring of offers for help with the kids, and meals, it's overwhelming says Samantha Richardson, but in a good way.
"That so many people are willing to help a stranger, but they don't know who we are, but everybody else has reached out to us, I feel blessed," said Samantha Richardson.
