Police arrest suspect in connection with murder of valley man

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a man in Central Phoenix.

Phoenix police tell Fox 10 that 22-year-old Matthew Meiner has been arrested and charged with the murder of 21-year-old Matthew McLean.

McLean was found dead in an apartment near 10th Street and Van Buren on December 16. Officers responded to the apartment on Monday afternoon after receiving a report of a disturbance.

When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the body of McLean inside the apartment.

Police learned that McLean and Meiner were longtime friends and during an altercation, police believe Meiner killed McLean with an edged instrument.

A motive for the murder has not been established, however, Meiner is known to be in possession of McLean's 2008 Audi, which is still missing.

If you have any information on the location of the missing vehicle, please call Phoenix police at 602-262-6141.

Meiner has been charged with one count of murder, theft of means of transportation and possession of stolen property.
