Tempe Police investigate triple-shooting involving homeless men

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Tempe police say a shooting that left two men critically wounded and one dead involved homeless people allowed to stay in the back yard of a home and occurred after an altercation.

Police Lt. Mike Pooley says the shooting occurred at about 5 a.m. near Apache and Price. Officers found two wounded men in the back yard and the third wounded man inside a shed converted into living quarters.

According to Pooley, one of the wounded men told an officer while in am ambulance that the shooting started during an altercation between two of the wounded men.

Police initially said they were looking for a suspect, but Pooley says police now think the wounded men account for all those involved in the shooting. Other people were detained at the scene for questioning, but officials says there have been no arrests so far.

The shooting occurred in the area of Price Road and Apache Boulevard. That's just west of the Loop 101 freeway.
