Police: man arrested in connection with deadly shooting

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- Phoenix Police officials say an arrest has been made, in connection with a deadly shooting that took place on October 12.

According to a statement released by Sgt. Armando M. Carbajal, 19-year-old Jaylin Kishon Lumpkin was arrested and booked into jail for a count of 2nd Degree Homicide. Lumpkin was arrested on October 17, after detectives located a previously unidentified witness, who implicated the suspect. Another witness at the scene was later re-interviewed, and that witness also implicated the suspect.

The incident, according to earlier statements by Phoenix Police, happened during the early morning hours of October 12, when police were called to the 7200 block of S. 56th Drive for a call of shots fired. The victim was found in the floor of a home, and was declared dead at the scene. At the time, a witness told officers she was with the victim in the living room when the suspect entered the home through the front door, shot the victim, and then fled.
