Police: Man found injured in Surprise, dies at hospital

SURPRISE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police say a man has died after he was found injured late Wednesday night in Surprise.

According to the Surprise Police Department, an off-duty police officer was working traffic for a road construction project near Greenway and Parkview when a white vehicle drove erratically towards him.

When the vehicle stopped, the driver was injured and bleeding profusely. The 19-year-old driver was then taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Police say the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

The roadway has since reopened.
