Police: man shot after attacking woman with hammer

GLENDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police say a man has shot after he allegedly attacked a woman with a hammer has died.

Glendale Police tell FOX 10 that the shooting happened before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 67th Avenue and Rose Lane.

The person who called 9-1-1 said a man was assaulting a woman with a hammer, a short time later another man shot the attacker.

Glendale Fire responded and took the man to the hospital, where Tuesday evening officials confirmed he had died.

Now police are trying to find who fired the shot, the shooter fled the scene.

Detectives are on the scene investigating the shooting.
