CHANDLER, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Chandler police need help identifying the body of a man who was found dead near a neighborhood in 2002.
According to the Chandler Police Department, the body of a man was found just north of a neighborhood near Val Vista Drive and Ocotillo Road on July 22, 2002.
The body was in the later stages of decomposition and there were no signs of trauma on the body or identification in the clothing.
Police pulled fingerprints from the body, but they were unable to make a positive identification. During the autopsy, investigators found a bullet in the left shin of the body, just below the knee, however, officials determined it was an old wound and was not a factor in the victim's death.
With the help of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, police determined through a sketch that the victim was a Hispanic male between the ages of 30 and 45 at the time of his death. The victim was clothed in light blue jeans, a blue pattern button-down collared shirt, and boxer shorts.
