Police release body cam footage in deadly officer-involved shooting

Authorities have released body cam footage showing a man's deadly encounter with police on Father's Day.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department released the footage, which shows officers responding to a home after reports of domestic violence involving 20-year-old Devin Scott on June 20.

Body cam footage shows officers opening the door to a bedroom where Scott was in a bed and armed with a knife. After officers repeatedly tell Scott to drop the knife, he gets up and starts swinging the knife at officers.

Scott then stands up and appears to begin to lunge toward officers. As soon as this happens, officers open fire on Scott.

After the shooting, Scott was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Police say Scott's father made the original call to 9-1-1 after reporting that his son had broke into his home.

The Kingman Police Department investigated the officer-involved shooting and turned their investigation over to the Mohave County Attorney's Office.

All of the officers have been cleared following the investigation.

Police also say the deadly encounter was the second time officers were called to the home that same night. Scott had also been arrested for domestic violence a week earlier.
