Police: Man shot during 7-Eleven armed robbery

Police have multiple people in custody after a delivery driver was shot during an armed robber on Tuesday morning.

The Phoenix Police Department tells Fox 10 that a delivery driver was shot during an armed robbery of a 7-Eleven near I-17 and Greenway just before 4 a.m. Two police officers happened to be driving behind the store when the armed robbery call went out.

"As they were doing so, they witnessed three-to-four suspects running from that 7-Eleven, carrying merchandise and a weapon," Lt. Paul Taylor said.

At this point, a third suspect jumped into a car, which police say was the getaway car that was waiting for the suspects.

Officers set up a perimeter and brought out their helicopter. About an hour later, the spotted the getaway car.

"We actually located it just inside the apartment complex from where the two were originally taken into custody and from there, we were able to get some information that led us to a specific apartment," Lt. Taylor said.

Three men and one woman remain in police custody and the victim is still in serious condition.
