Phoenix police: Armed robbery suspect left restaurant on ATV

- Police say a suspect has been arrested after a masked man fired a gunshot inside a Phoenix restaurant, demanded money and took off on an ATV.

The Phoenix Police Department says the incident happened on Sunday, April 2 at about 8 p.m., when a suspect wearing a mask and armed with a shotgun walked into the Chili's restaurant near the Carefree Highway and Interstate 17 and demanded money from the hostess.

The suspect then fired one shot into the ceiling and took off on an ATV. Shortly after, police found a man who matched the suspect's description at a nearby mobile home and took him into custody.

Police say there were about 30 customers inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting, but no one was hurt.

The suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Jerry Krach.

"The suspect was spotted when he pointed the shotgun at another victim near 33rd Lane and Via Del Deserto. Soon after, officers responded to a prowler call at a mobile home park located at 36408 N Black Canyon Highway where a subject matching the description was detained, and later identified as the suspect," stated Sgt. Vince Lewis.

Lewis added that Krach made admissions to involvement at the time of his arrest and he will be booked on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
