Police: suspect detained after trying to rob jewelry store

Phoenix Police say a man is in custody after he tried to rob a jewelry store of a watch Thursday.

Around 11:40 a.m. police say a 23-year-old man entered the store near 32nd Street and Ray Road and asked to see a watch.

Authorities say he ran from the store and was followed by employees before entering a vehicle. A struggle ensued and the suspect reportedly bit the employee in the arm.

Officers quickly responded and took the man into custody.

Now detecitves are exploring whether the suspect has been responsible for other robberies of jewelry stores in the area.
