Police: Man in custody following deadly shooting in Surprise

An argument turned deadly when a man was shot and killed overnight in Surprise.

The Surprise Police Department tells Fox 10 that the shooting happened at a home near Grand Avenue and Greenway Road just before midnight after two men became involved in a physical argument.

According to witnesses, the victim, 32-year-old Roberto Rodriguez, had traveled to Surprise to meet another man, 29-year-old Aristeo Estrada. During their meeting, the two men got into a fight and Rodriguez was shot.

Estrada was later found hiding underneath a truck in a neighbor's backyard and he has been taken into custody. At this point, he is considered to be an investigative-lead in the shooting.

No charges have been filed.
