Police: Son wanted in connection to father's death

Phoenix Police say they are looking for a known heroin addict who is wanted in connection with the murder of his own father. Police say the father had been dead for several days before his body was discovered in his home.
The 62-year-old victim according to police died at the hands of his own son. Police now want to speak with 24-year-old Wynton Elrod.
Craig Elrod posted a family photo of him and his two sons on his Facebook page. Police say one of the sons found the elder man's body inside Craig's home, and now the other son is on the run and wanted for suspected murder.
"Well I'm just shocked, it's one of those things, it's a quiet neighborhood, this little cul de sac, and we really never had any problems with anything," said Gary Smith.
Smith lives across the street from the victim; he describes the family as friendly.
"I used to wave at the father a lot; we were around the corner a little bit. Whenever I'd see him they were friendly people and the son always waved," said Smith.
Police say Wynton was recently kicked out of the home because of drug abuse. When the other son returned home from being out of town for more than a week, he discovered his brother at the house and the father missing. Wynton then took off in their father's car. The father's body was later found in a bathroom; he had been dead for several days.
The next door neighbors say they never noticed anything suspicious.
"It's creepy because I've seen the kids a few times when I pulled in the garage or driveway, I can see him sitting at the top of the stairs smoking a cigarette," said Corazon Villa.
Wynton Elrod has a criminal history in at least two states. He was arrested in Arizona in 2013 for prescription drug abuse. He was also arrested in Virginia in 2010 and 2012 for burglary and grand larceny.
Police say Craig's body had severe injuries to his upper body. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause of death.
Elrod is believed to be driving a 2015 orange Fiat 500 with an Arizona license plate BMN2693. He is a known heroin addict and should be considered armed and dangerous.
