Police: Teen arrested in shooting of Sunnyslope High School student

A teen has been arrested and charged in the shooting of a Sunnyslope High School student.

The Phoenix Police Department says a 16-year-old teen has been arrested in the shooting of 18-year-old Tayler Maggi.

On April 14, Maggi was shot while sitting in his car near Alice and Central Avenues when a suspect pulled next to him, displayed a gun and fired several shots.

Maggi lost control of his vehicle while driving away, crossed a median and crashed into bushes and trees on the opposite side of the road.

An 18-year-old passenger, who was also in Maggi's vehicle, was not injured.

The suspect has been detained in the Maricopa County Juvenile Detention Center and his vehicle has been recovered by police.

Maggi remains in critical condition following the shooting.

Police have not ruled out if there are more suspects and ask anyone with information to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
