Police: Two people shot in Tempe, no arrests made at this time

- Tempe Police say two victims have been shot near Baseline and McClintock. Both of the victims were sent to the hospital in critical condition.

Passersby got quite a glimpse of two different scenes in Tempe this afternoon…A portion of a plaza blocked at McClintock and Southern and another plaza covered with bright crime scene tape on Baseline and McClintock.

At one scene a shoe left in the middle of the parking lot and a car riddled with bullets...and at another, a passenger window shattered.

Business owners in the area describe what they heard here at McClintock and Baseline…

“I heard a gunshot so I looked out the window and I saw one guy run over to his car and left.”

Investigators say they believe it was an argument between two groups that sparked the shooting.

Witnesses tell us they heard roughly 5 gunshots.

“They were scared.. Everybody lay down on the floor.”

“It was kinda shocking. I just figured it was a car accident. I didn’t figure someone was shot.”

Witnesses say one of the victims was driving this car and crashed outside of the Pollo Loco—that’s when a passerby actually broke through the window to get access to the victim.

Matt Walters spoke to the man.

“The person was shot and wasn’t really sure what happened and he had to break the window to get the person out of the vehicle.”

No arrests have been made at this time.
