Polygamist family featured in popular TLC show moves from Las Vegas to Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (KSAZ) -- One may know the Browns from cable television program Sister Wives. The Browns, who are a polygamist family, have moved from Las Vegas, and are now calling Arizona home.

Now, one of the wives, 4th wife Robyn, is speaking out.

"People in Flagstaff are down to earth, and they just kind of say welcome. Welcome to Flagstaff," said Robyn.

The Northern Arizonan town, population 72,000, recently gained a few more residents.

"We just moved because we wanted some cooler weather, some mountains and some green and a slower lifestyle, actually," said Robyn.

Sister Wives, a popular show on TLC, features polygamist Kody Brown, his four wives, and their children. After facing prosecution in Utah because of their polygamous lifestyle, the family moved to Las Vegas in 2011. The family stayed in the Southern Nevada city, until now.

"I don't think we ever really planned on Vegas being that final destination, and so, we just wanted a slower lifestyle," said Robyn. "We've all come from smaller towns. We just wanted something more like that."

Robyn talked about her life as a busy mom.

"I cook dinner, I deal with the messes, I'm taking care of the kids," said Robyn. "I'm making sure everyone is happy and taken care of."

Robyn is also a business owner. Her passion lies in her online jewelry and clothing boutique, named "My Sisterwife's Closet".

"It's something that I'm working on a lot lately and got to breathe some new life into it, re-brand it, and come up with some new ideas," said Robyn. "And I'm designing again, so that's really fun."

Most of Robyn's designs are inspired by real life experiences she hopes to raise awareness about. Two pieces, in particular, hit close to home. Robyn designed a piece, named "Always In My Heart", for her son who lives with a form of Autism.

"I think if my son had had more awareness from people around him that knew what Autism or Asperger's Syndrome was, that he might of had an easier time in life," said Robyn

A bracelet, named "Choose to Keep Going" is for suicide awareness.

"The idea that tomorrow is a new day, don't give up keep going. That's what the semi-colon is all about. It's not over," said Robyn. One of her loved one recently committed suicide, and she is hoping her jewelry and voice will provide support and hope.

"It needs to be something that if someone is feeling that way, that it's not, 'oh my gosh, I can't believe you're thinking that kind of a thing', but 'OK, explain to me why and what can we do to help you'," said Robyn. "I wish so much that I could have talked to my sweetheart, my loved one that night he was considering it. It needs to be talked about."

Robyn is excited to keep growing her business, creating memories with her family, getting to know her new community, and possibly planting some long term roots up north.

"The dream is maybe one day getting my own shop," said Robyn. "Flagstaff is a great little place, and I love all of the shops around here so maybe, we'll see what the future holds."

The next season of Sister Wives airs in January on TLC.
