President Trump could visit the Valley on September 19

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- There are reports that President Donald Trump is due to make a return to the Valley soon, just weeks before a general election in the state.

In the general election, Arizona voters will choose a new Senator, as Jeff Flake steps down. In addition, Governor Doug Ducey is up for re-election. So, some believe President Trump's visit will be to drum up support for specific candidates of the Republican Party.

It is not known where the potential rally will be held, but sources say the rally will take place on September 19. Originally, the word was President Trump was going to be making a stop once again in the Valley after the primary election last week.

The last time President Trump was in Phoenix was in August of 2017, where he held a rally at the Phoenix Convention Center. It was a memorable night, where tempers flared as protesters clashed with Phoenix Police.

"We file suit because Phoenix Police used excessive force and impeded on our 1st Amendment rights," said Viri Hernandez with Poder In Action. The suit filed by her organization is one of two lawsuits against Phoenix Police for what happened. The other lawsuit was filed by the ACLU.

As far as possible venues, the Phoenix Convention Center, Talking Stick Resort Arena, and Ak-Chin Pavilion are open on that date. The Arizona State Fairgrounds is no-go, because of preparation works for the Arizona State Fair.

Regardless of the rally's location, Hernandez said they plan to demonstrate.

"We would want to," said Hernandez. "We definitely want to. Definitely will try to, but we also know people are feeling limited, and scared to show up."
