Rain dampens drivers' hopes of racing, but not the fan's sense of humor

Some parts of the valley got quite a bit of rain Sunday, which caused a long delay for NASCAR and NASCAR fans.
Today at Phoenix International Raceway it was "ready, set, rain," but through a sea of ponchos and umbrellas, fans spirits weren't dampened.
"Rain or shine the shoe must go on, the race must go on, diehard fan or not, it's gotta go on."
For some, it's more than just a race - it's a unifying tradition.
"My family's been in the business for 70 years so, we go from dirt track to asphalt."
For others, it's a chance to enjoy the sights and sounds of the raceway.
"Walkin around, people watchin the best thing in the world people watchin, from all walks of life here today."
And even though some fans who traveled thousands of miles to the valley may have forgotten their raingear…
"I left my raincoat in the closet, I guess I didn't want it to get wet, I don't know."
It seems everyone remembered to pack a sense of humor.
"You're from Iowa, did you expect the rain to follow you? I didn't think I'd follow me this far, not this far west of the Mississippi."
