Report shows 8 Jesuit priests accused of sexual abuse of a minor worked at Brophy Prep
PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- Jesuits West Province, a Catholic group overseeing multiple states, including Arizona, released a list of every priest credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult.
The report released by the Catholic organization reveals that eight of the Jesuit priests worked at Brophy College Prepatory at one point.
The priests named were Carlton E. Whitten, Edward T. Burke, Eugene J. Colosimo, Charles L. Connor, James T. Monaghan, Thomas E. O'Rourke, John R. Shepherd and Philip Sunseri. Out of the eight priests, only one is still alive.
While most of the claims of abuse date back to periods where the priests were not working at Brophy, claims against Colosimo from 1957 to 1959 correspond with the dates he worked at the school which were from 1955 to 1960.
"Inclusion in this list does not imply that the claims are true and correct or that the accused individual has been found guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims," the report said.
The report dates back to 1950 and all priests accused are from Jesuit West's provinces.
