Rescued mountain lion kitten being nursed back to health

- An orphaned mountain lion kitten was brought to the Adobe Mountain Wildlife Center to be nursed back to health.

"Yesterday, when the vet brought her in, she was very lethargic," Amy Burnettt, of the AMWC, said. "She's very, very thin."

According to Burnett, the mountain lion is about 5-to-6-months-old, but she only weigh's 13 pounds and at this age, she should weight 30 pounds.

The vet at the wildlife center evaluated the kitten and gave the feline a clean bill of health, for now. The next 48 hours are critical, but the good new is, she's eating.

"The best way for us to take care of her is for her to see as little of us as possible," Burnett said. "We're just going to keep our eyes on her, but we're not going to handle her anymore than we have to."

At this point, they're taking it day-by-day and hoping for the best.

The wildlife center is accepting donations to help care for the kitten and you can donate by clicking here.
