Retired officer honored for saving woman from fire

It is a true act of heroism from someone who spent his life serving and protecting others. A retired Phoenix Police officer risked his life to save a woman from her burning home, and the firefighters who were on that scene honored him with a hero award.
On the evening of February 2, Christopher Gentis risked his life to jump two fences and pull an elderly woman from her burning home.
Gentis did this before firefighters from Phoenix, Guadalupe, and Tempe arrived.
The woman survived and recovered from her injuries, and now those firefighters are honoring Gentis.
64-year-old Christopher Gentis retired from the Phoenix Police Department as a Lieutenant.
Firefighters honored Gentis with a Hero Award during a ceremony Thursday afternoon.
