PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- A 14-year-old taking the bus home from school was attacked and robbed.
The teen was heading home on a city bus in Laveen when someone followed him off of the bus. The incident has left the victim traumatized, and seeking medical attention for a possible concussion. Phoenix Police say what happened goes way beyond being roughed up by a bully, and the attacker is wanted for assault and robbery.
Battered and bruised, the victim made it home after the bus stop beating safe, thanks to the help of Good Samaritans.
"He's real skinny. He's real little," said the victim's grandmother, Rebecca Diaz.
Diaz said her grandson was at a disadvantage against a much bigger teenager, who followed the freshman off a city bus near 75th Avenue and Baseline Road, and attacked him without warning.
"The guy actually knocked him out and hit him on the head," said Diaz. "He said he was unconscious for -- he doesn't know how long. For a few minutes maybe."
The suspect ran off after the beating, taking $80 in cash from the victim. Scared that the attacker would gather a group and target him again, the victim walked up to a nearby home looking a for safe haven.
"Started talking, told us he was assaulted at the bus stop when he got off," said Gary Henderson. "He had a knot on the back of his head. We got him an ice pack for that."
The Hendersons called police, as well as Diaz. They also posted a warning on social media.
"I think he needs to be caught, and have some respect for other people and for human life," said Lynn Henderson.
"I think he needs to get punished," said Diaz. "There needs to be consequences for his actions."
Diaz said she's grateful for the Good Samaritans who showed her grandson that not all strangers are dangerous, for some can also be incredibly kind.
"I'm glad he stopped here," said Gary. "I said, 'man, you have any more troubles, you feel free to stop in my house any time.'"
The suspect is described as an older high school student, between the ages of 16 and 19, 5'10" tall, about 155lbs with a thin build, and was last seen wearing a blue backpack, white tennis shoes, black pants and gray sweater.
