GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) - Gilbert police say a robbery victim is dead after being found bound and not breathing in his home and that two people found hiding in the home's attic were arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Police say 20-year-old Torre Sanders and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in the incident Monday. The Associated Press does not generally identify juvenile crime defendants by name.
According to a police probable cause statement, officers broke into 27-year-old Shane Mullins' home and found him dead after a neighbor reported seeing two people beating Mullins. The statement says the defendants silenced Mullins so his screams wouldn't be heard.
Both defendants were ordered held in lieu of $1 million bond following initial court appearances. They didn't have attorneys who could comment on the allegations.
