Salt River Police officer arrested for sexual abuse, kidnapping

A Salt River Police Department officer has been arrested on sexual abuse and kidnapping charges.

Scottsdale police say Officer Jay Hun Wu was arrested on Thursday afternoon for allegedly sexually abusing and kidnapping a woman while she was in his custody in March.

Investigators say the 45-year-old officer was giving the woman a ride home on March 29, when he passed her Scottsdale home and refused to let her out of his patrol car.

Officer Wu pulled over at a different neighborhood and told the woman to get out of his patrol car. He then told the woman he needed to pat her down and while doing so, he sexually abused her underneath her clothing.

"I just would like the court to understand that this has impacted me emotionally to have trust in an officer. I have nightmares, and a lot of crying. I'm fearful someone is going to try to retaliate against me because i finally did report it," said the woman in a recording played in court.

The officer gave the woman his business card and told her to call him if she needed anything.

The victim immediately reported the incident to Scottsdale police and Officer Wu was arrested on Thursday during a traffic stop.

"It's really taken a toll on me. It really shook and scared me, and I didn't know who to turn to. I never want to be touched by someone if I didn't ask them to touch me, and I wanted to get out of the car, so I was just scared," she said.

Officer Wu has been charged with four counts of kidnapping, sexual abuse, unlawful sexual conduct of a police officer, assault and tampering with physical evidence.
