Scottsdale PD releases body camera footage of Strong arrest

Scottsdale Police have released body camera footage of a traffic stop that led to the arrest of NFL Player and former ASU star Jaelen Strong. Police say Strong had marijuana stuffed inside the front of his pants.

Strong was stopped in his Maserati Sunday night because the license plate wasn't visible. But that issue took a back seat when officers smelled weed, and Strong admitted to having a box of joints.

The traffic stop was initiated because of what the officer couldn't see, but it then turned into what the officer said he could smell.

In the body camera, footage Scottsdale Police put the spotlight on 22-year-old Strong, the Houston Texans player who was a passenger in the car. In the video, he later admits to possessing weed.

"It's not like a prepared joint," said Strong.

"You got a joint or something?" said the officer.

Officers then asked him to step out of the car and the cameras captured several perspectives. They sat Strong on the curb and one of the officers had a few words to share.

"Good on you guys for being honest man, believe it or not, honesty goes a long way," said the officer.

Police arrested Strong for a misdemeanor charge, possession of marijuana. The NFL wide-receiver now is catching the wrong type of attention.

Strong was released, and the case was referred to the Maricopa County Superior Court for charges. The Houston Texans released a statement saying they are disappointed in Strong. There is no word if he will face any repercussions from the team.
