SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Scottsdale Police officials say a 38-year-old medical worker at a North Scottsdale pain treatment center has admitted to sexually assaulting a sedated woman in 2018.
According to a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Xavier Uziel Perez was arrested on Wednesday on charges of sexual assault. the incident happened on June 25, 2018, when police responded to Integrated Pain Consultants on the 9500 block of Ironwood Square Drive. During the initial investigation, the victim, identified as a 48-year-old woman, reported that she was under sedating for pain treatment to her back, and as she began to regain consciousness in recovery, she believed she had been sexually assaulted by a male medical worker who provided her care in the recovery room.
Over the course of the next several months, Scottsdale Police officials say they gathered evidence that confirmed the victim's account of events. Police say the pain treatment center where the incident happened has several Valley locations, and Perez has worked at all of them at different points in time. Perez stated that this incident was a one-time occurrence, but Scottsdale Police detectives are concerned there may be other victims.
