Scottsdale ranked No. 7 for top city to celebrate Valentine's Day

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Love is in the air, especially in Scottsdale. In fact, Scottsdale made the list of the top 10 romantic, yet affordable cities, so we hit the streets to find out what people are expecting for Valentine's Day.

Celebrating love is getting more expensive. In fact, the National Retail Federation says consumers are expected to shell out more than $20.7 billion on the romantic holiday, but shelling out that much green isn't for everyone.

"I don't know, maybe they're greedy," one woman said. "My husband and I just sort of say Happy Valentine's Day to each other and that's it."

"I don't expect anything," Paul said. "I'm lucky sometimes to get a card, but what I love the most is sending Valentine cards to my grandchildren."

WalletHub recently named Scottsdale one of the most romantic and affordable cities to celebrate Valentine's Day in, especially when it comes to dining out.

"Go to Maestro's, oh yeah!" one person said. "You know, have a steak, get that creamed corn and that spinach. That's it, all the sides!"

Some say they prefer an experience, like traveling.

"We're Canadians and for years we used to fly to Ottawa from western Canada and spend the night and go," one woman said.

For others, it's all about the little things, but whether you're planning for a night out on the town, or simply celebrating with a cozy night in, don't wait until the last minute.
