Scottsdale store features artwork by Arizona artists

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) -- A store in the Scottsdale fashion square is dedicated to supporting local Arizona artists.

The store, called Open Mind Emporium, features unique designs that can't be found anywhere else.

"The store name speaks for itself," said Nate Butt. "Emporium. It is quite the emporium of stuff."

From unique apparel to original paintings, the artwork on sale at Open Mind Emporium are all designed and made by local artists.

"All the artists in here do First Friday, so we decided, you know -- there's no store, there's no a classy, nice place where people can buy local art, so we decided to open one up," said Kevin Pringles. He, along with Butt, came up with the idea of opening a space where Arizona artists can call home.

The store has been up and running since May, bringing together over 40 local artists and small businesses.

"This is what we do day in and day out, and to be able to share it with other people, it's pretty amazing," said Amy Falkenberg.

Butt, meanwhile, has a word for those not done with holiday shopping.
"If you want something unique, you want to support the small guys, this is definitely the spot to step into," said Butt.
