Man who disappeared before Christmas found in Scottsdale

UPDATE -- Jonathan McRae was found this morning by a family member at approximately 10:51 a.m. near Scottsdale Road and Rio Salado Parkway, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

The search is on for a 25-year-old man who went out to walk his pet dog on the day before Christmas and never returned.

According to officials, Jonathan "Jon" McRae left a home on the 40000 block of N. 10th Street, in the New River area, at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, walking a grey-colored Pit Bull, and didn't return.

"It's not typical to do it at dinner time, and leave your phone, your wallet, your keys, everything behind," said Cris McRae, Jon McRae's older brother. "That's the weird part.

Scottsdale Police told DPS that they spoke with McRae, at the intersection of Hayden and Shea at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The location is 30 miles from the house near New River. Authorities, however, didn't connect the dots on the exchange, for a full 12 hours.

McRae reportedly told police he was going to visit a friend in Tempe.

McRae is described as a White man, 6' 2" tall, weighing 185 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. McRae was reportedly last seen wearing a green flannel shirt, grey sweatpants, and brown boots.

Anyone with information should call the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
