Arizona prison inmate who walked away from work crew back in custody

Authorities say a minimum-security inmate at the Arizona prison in Perryville who walked away from a work crew in Phoenix is back in custody.

Arizona Department of Corrections officials say Christina L. Felix was working at a supervised off-site work crew on August 28 near the area of Interstate 10 and 48th Street.

She was apprehended in Coolidge just after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Per ADC, she will be facing new criminal charges and additional prison time.

"ADC appreciates the incredible work by our Fugitive Apprehension Unit and law enforcement partners, including the U.S. Marshals Service and Arizona Department of Public Safety, to help quickly track down Inmate Felix and return her to state custody without incident," said ADC Director Charles L. Ryan.

Felix is serving 2.5 year prison sentence out of Pinal County for attempted theft means of transportation. She has been at the state prison in Perryville since April 12.
