Seniors take selfies to help end Alzheimer's

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Selfies are nothing new, but now one organization is asking seniors to take their best shot, all for a good cause.

All the selfies being taken at Phoenix Mountain Nursing Center are helping give back.

"For every selfie that is taken, Synergy Home Care will donate $5 to the Walk to End Alzheimer's," said Beth Hetzel with Phoenix Mountain Nursing Center.

All you have to do is snap your selfie, if you're over the age of 65, post it to Synergy Home Care's Facebook page with the hashtags #seniorselfie and #endalz, and that's when Synergy will in turn donate $5 to the Alzheimer's Association.

"It's important to do it here because a lot of our residents do suffer from Alzheimer's," said Hetzel. "And America as a whole, 15 million people are affected directly or indirectly by Alzheimer's so it's definitely something we're personally interested in."

You can snap and post your selfie through the rest of September.
