Authorities identify victims found in desert near Tonopah

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Department has identified both victims found shot to death in a desert area near Tonopah earlier this month.
Sheriff's deputies say 18-year-old Jesse Romero and 17-year-old Sophia Gibbs were found shot to death near 411th Avenue and Salome Highway.
On Aug. 18, a man who was driving to work located a woman's body on the side of the road in Tonopah. He called MCSO, and when deputies arrived, another discovery was made.
"We later located a man a little further down the road which was also deceased," said Deputy Joaquin Enriquez.
The man was slumped over a nearby fence; his clothes were dispersed. Deputy Enriquez with MCSO says they're calling it a double homicide, but they are not ruling out a murder-suicide.
"There are no weapons on scene, but obviously evidence on the scene leads us to believe this was a shooting," said Enriquez.
Enriquez says they found several shell casings at the scene.
"Lots of work to be done just to collect all the evidence," he said.
Investigators do not know if the victims knew each other, or what brought them to Salome Highway.
So far, no arrests have been made but if you have any information, please call the sheriff's office.
